Krystal and Doug are married!

The Pecatonica Duo played for Krystal and Doug's ceremony on October 15th at Grace Episcopal Church. Their fall-themed wedding amidst the traditional Gothic architecture was beautiful! Before Krystal entered, the cutest little ring bearer came down the aisle with a fishing pole! (relevant to how they got engaged)

It was a pleasure working with Reverends James and Connie from Happily Ever After Weddings, as well at Pat Werk, the church's wedding coordinator. We've been working with her for years and love her style and efficiency!

Krystal was very organized and had her music picked out and ready to go months before their wedding date. I can't say that about my own wedding! :)

Prelude: Light classical gems

Processional: Musetta's Waltz (Grandparents/parents) Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring (bridal party), Canon in D (Krystal)

Unity Candle: Air

Recessional: Trumpet Voluntary

Postlude: La Rejouissance, Good Day Sunshine and Here Comes the Sun

Thanks for letting the Pecatonica Duo add live music to your big day, Krystal and Doug! May you have a wonderful, long life together!

MacKenzie and Clint are married!

Back in Madison at the Warner Park Community Center MacKenzie and Clint said their wedding vows before friends and family. Having never been in the community center before I was shocked at all that goes on in that space! It's amazing and the rooms are lovely. In this picture of their ceremony space the shades are down but they pulled them up before the prelude music began. MacKenzie and Clint then had a lovely backdrop of the pond, bridge and trees. Everything about their ceremony was joyous, including their wide selection of music.

Prelude: Theme from the Ludlows, Simple Gifts, Music of the Night (from Phantom of the Opera)

Processional: Rigaudon and Canon in D

Unity Sand: All I Ask of You

Recessional: Good Day Sunshine (The sun was definitely shining down on them!)

Postlude: Spring from "The Four Seasons", Sleeping Beauty Waltz, and Perfidia

The Pecatonica Duo was honored to be a part of their special day. Thank you MacKenzie and Clint!

Brittney and Matt are married!

Congratulations to Brittney and Matt who got married on October 8th at St. Francis Xavier Church in Cross Plains. The church was beautifully decorated and it was yet another perfect weather Saturday.

Prelude: Hallelujah and lots of Bach!

Processional: Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring and Canon in D

Unity Candle: By My Side (The Pecatonica Duo accompanied the church's cantor/pianist)

Recessional: Wedding March (Mendelssohn)

Postlude: Hey Jude, Yellow, Here Comes the Sun, and Good Day Sunshine (They liked our upbeat Beatles and Coldplay and we like them too!)

Congratulations!

Amber and Christian are married!

Amber and Christian had a simple but lovely ceremony in MMoCA's rooftop sculpture gardens. If you haven't been up there, the view and gardens are stunning! My favorite part of their ceremony were the "love letters" they wrote to each other and then had a friend read on their behalf. They were a beautiful way to express their feelings without succumbing to joyous sniffles! :) As it was a 5pm wedding, the ceremony got a little chilly for the quartet but we heated things back up during the reception downstairs. Here's a sampling of the music they celebrated with:

Prelude: Beautiful classics

Processional: Air (the one bridesmaid, parents and groom entered to this)
Canon in D (Amber walked through the gardens to this piece)

Recessional: Wedding March

Postlude: La Rejouissance

Amber and Christian made their entrance to the reception in the MMoCA lobby while we played Handel's Hornpipe. I would have loved to get a picture of this! It was a quite an entrance!

During the reception guests mingled, Badger fans dressed in red hustled by the glass and we played some of our favorites. What a celebration!

All You Need is Love, Sleeping Beauty Waltz, Champs Elysées, Queen of Sheba, Viva la Vida, Across the Universe, Yellow, St. Paul Suite and Brandenburg 3 are to name a few!

Amber and Christian, thanks for letting us be a part of your big day!

Nikki and Josh are married!

The Pecatonica Duo played for Nikki and Josh's outdoor ceremony at the Lake Windsor Golf Club. October can be pretty iffy for weather so they were ready to accommodate/protect our wooden instruments with a tent and a space heater. Of course by being so prepared, the day ended up being PERFECT. The sun radiantly shone over their ceremony and guests were comfortable in the lovely temperature.

La Vie en Rose brought grandparents and parents down the aisle. The bridal party walked in to Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring and Nikki came in to Canon in D.

When they gave roses to their mothers we played a little of Vivaldi's "Winter" from "The Four Seasons." It's a beautiful movement.

The joyous couple recessed to Rigaudon and we followed up with Hey Jude and Perfidia as postlude.

Thanks for letting us be a part of your special day, Nikki and Josh and congratulations!

Brittany and Scott are married!

Brittany and Scott were married at Burke Lutheran Church on September 17th, 2011. (I (Amber) was not playing with the quartet this weekend as it was my own brother's wedding in MN but I heard it was beautiful!

Brittany and Scott were engaged in France and picked a lot of music with the French theme in mind. It was a fun list of songs!

Prelude: Simple Gifts, Hey Jude, Wachet Auf, La Vie en Rose, Rondeau

Processional: Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring by Bach and Wedding March by Mendelssohn (for the bride)

Unity Candle: Meditation from Thais

Recessional: Good Day Sunshine

Postlude: La Rejouissance, March from Marriage of Figaro, Sleeping Beauty Waltz, Arrival of Queen of Sheba

Congratulations to the couple!

Kristin and Peter are married!

The setting was ideal, the couple gorgeous and the day perfect.

Our quartet loved performing in the Assembly Room of Holy Wisdom Monastery. (The monastery is a newly-constructed building which opened in the fall of 2009. In late March 2010 the U.S. Green Building Council awarded Holy Wisdom Monastery a Platinum rating – the highest level of leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) certification available.) The room had superb sound and was a beautiful space!

Kristin and Peter were very thorough in their musical selections and they did a fantastic job. We played a lot of fun music and received many compliments from guests (especially those that listened a long time during the postlude as guests were ushered out to greet the newlywed couple)!

Sara and Jason are married!

The Pecatonica String Quartet played Sara and Jason's beautiful wedding Sunday, September 4th at the Monona Terrace in Madison. Saturday was a dreary, drizzly day but Sunday was gorgeous! Sara and Jason's wedding was an elegant affair and ran quite smoothly thanks in part to their pastor. We don't have any pictures of the actual ceremony, unfortunately, but here's one of the beautiful day, Monona Terrace and the capitol.

What we played:

Processional:
The bridesmaids walked in to Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 3. We hadn't done this one before as a processional but it was a great pick! Then Sara walked in to the elegant Trumpet Voluntary by Henry Purcell.

Unity Candle:
Yellow by Coldplay

Recessional:
Wedding March by Felix Mendelssohn

Postlude:
All You Need is Love by The Beatles

Their guests seemed ready to celebrate as the ceremony space cleared out quite quickly after the bride and groom exited together!

Thanks Sara and Jason for letting us be a part of your big day! Congratulations!
